New case: rescue of a minor

Human Trafficking is described by the United Nations as “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or reception of a person by threat or use of force or other form of coercion, kidnapping, fraud, deceit, abuse of power, or position of vulnerability or giving or receiving payment or benefits to cause a person to control another person for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor services, slavery or similar practices, servitude, or removal of organs.”

Today we are talking about Kala, a 15-year-old girl who lived with her family in the state of Bihar, where she was studying in the 7th grade. Her family lives in poverty and this is what led them to accept an offer to work in domestic service in Mumbai. She accepted it despite the fact that her salary was 11.50 euros per month. But the worst was not that, the worst was the nightmare that was unleashed.

Behind the job offer was hidden the desire to sexually exploit Kala. The girl has been forced to be with 3 or 4 clients for two months.

Finally, and thanks to the work of our rescue unit in collaboration with the police, we have been able to follow up on her case until we managed to rescue her from this situation. And also obtain the detention without bail of two of those responsible. Kala has been in a public shelter home reception institution for a few days now.

She now begins a new episode of her life, which will not be easy. That is why we want to be by her side, to help heal her physical and mental wounds and so that we can offer alternatives to her and her family. #breakwithtrafficking and help us free more girls and women from the chains of trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Here you can see her story.
