Mumbai Smiles Foundation recently organized a hygiene session for Victims of Human Trafficking as part of our Butterfly Project

8th January

Maintaining personal hygiene is necessary for many reasons; personal, social, health, psychological or simply as a way of life. Keeping a good standard of hygiene helps to prevent the development and spread of infections, illnesses and bad odours.

Last month, Mumbai Smiles Foundation, as part of its Butterfly Project organized a health and hygiene session on November 18th & 25th, at the Kamathipura Centre.

The main beneficiaries were the Victims of Human Trafficking and the goal was for them to understand the essence of health and hygiene.

On 18th Nov 2019, the first session was conducted where Victims of Human Trafficking were made aware of how hygiene impacts health. They were also told how germs can transfer from one person to another and cause viral and bacterial infections. They were also informed on the importance of menstrual hygiene, and the need to change sanitary napkins to prevent diseases such as STDs and cancer.

The second session, conducted on November 25th, focused on the importance of washing hands and eating nutritious food to maintain a healthy standard of living.
