“I RUN, THEY LEARN”

Today we want to share a news which encourages and makes us especially proud of the Udaan shelter, which we have opened for women who have managed to break the chain of human trafficking and sex trafficking, and which has completed more than a year.

We recently told you that living together in Udaan is not always easy, but those the six women who today share their day-to-day life and live together in this shelter home, make a lot of effort so that everything goes well, and especially so that they feel good, take care of themselves, heal their mental wounds to experience a free future in which they want to live as independent women with opportunities.

Well, our Udaan women’s team participated last weekend in a virtual marathon organized by the Light of Life Trust, whose objective was to raise funds so that young children who have had to abandon their studies can have opportunity to go back to school. When we present them the proposal, they did not hesitate for a second to participate in this activity that was a real novelty, running and also for a charitable cause. They were very excited!

As you can see, not only did they run, the youngest of the house also signed up. The organization gave the option of traveling 2,3,5, or 10 km. They chose the 2km option and succeeded, along with 8,000 other people who participated elsewhere in India.

What a satisfaction they felt completing the goal and doing it to help other people! This activity has meant a good dose of self-confidence for our heroes, while it has helped to increase the feeling of team and trust between them.

One more step, for these women who shape India among the most courageous. We will continue to share with all of you each of the progress stories that result from their effort and commitment to themselves.
