#GivingTuesday, a day of giving

 In Empresas, Human trafficking

For 10 years now, November 29 has been a marked date in the calendar of social entities, companies and individuals. That day is celebrated around the world on #GivingTuesday, a day “to give”, a day for solidarity. This movement was created in 2012 in the US as an alternative to the previous days, such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which promote shopping before Christmas.

The #GivingTuesday campaign arrived in Spain for the first time in 2015, raising a total of €405,000 for more than 260 social projects. This year, Mumbai Smiles joins the initiative through the crowdfunding challenge that we have been running since September 23, hand in hand with Migranodearena.org, which is one of the entities that promote #GivingTuesday in Spain.

How to collaborate on #GivingTuesday through our charity challenge

  • Check the list of projects on this page and collaborate: either as a person, organization or company. Our specific project, which is one of the #GivingTuesday actions in Spain for this year, is this. Rescue 20 girls from human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
If you are a company, you are especially invited to join the initiative. This document explains in a very simple way how you can organize activities to raise funds: with your employees, for your clients or suppliers, etc.
  • Ask us if you have any ideas or suggestions on how to create your own individual fundraising action.
Schools are another great ally in #GivingTuesday. In this manual there are many proposals that can be promoted from an educational center.
  • Disseminate the initiative through social networks with the hashtag #GivingTuesday to give visibility to the project and encourage other people, companies and organizations to collaborate.

#GivingTuesday is more than an individual action with a global impact. It is an initiative in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, it is an example of SDG 17 and one of its goals: encourage and promote the creation of effective alliances in the public, public-private and civil society spheres, taking advantage of the experience and strategies for obtaining resources from the alliances.

Do not wait any longer to join the initiative!
