Guru is the one who imparts knowledge to their students without any expectations. We worship our GURU/ mentor on the full moon day of this month in India every year to show our gratitude towards our teachers.

This is an auspicious day for the teachers and students from our preschools as well as our students from the LSE projects who are struggling to lead a normal life. The teachers have to play multiple roles while interacting with these children. They have to be kind and understanding and have to show empathy working with these children while lending a patient ear to listen to their woes and challenges just like a caring parent. It’s a walk on a tight rope balancing the role of a teacher and a friend while accept their mistakes and showing them the right path.

We at Mumbai Smiles Foundation try to ensure that the students understand the importance and relevance of this day and the role the teachers play in shaping their lives. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic it was unsafe to meet our students in person; however, their smiles and wishes were conveyed to our teachers through our virtual classroom sessions.
