We start new course for learning Spanish langue
Course for learning Spanish: new opportunities through language
On June 12th, we launched a new Spanish course at Mumbai Smiles for survivors of trafficking from South Asia. This free, four-month training, offered twice a week in two-hour sessions, is an essential part of our comprehensive recovery and support program for people who have escaped trafficking networks and whom we are supporting in building a new life.
Language a key to freedom
For survivors of trafficking who have arrived in Spain, mastering the languages of the country is not just a communication tool: it is the gateway to an independent life in the host country. Without the language, it is almost impossible to access decent employment opportunities, carry out daily tasks, exercise basic rights or build meaningful social relationships beyond one’s own cultural environment. Our course places special emphasis on the use of verbal language, prioritizing practical communication that allows for functioning in real-life situations. The objective is to provide basic language tools to these people that strengthen their confidence, freedom and capacity for social integration. A distinctive aspect of this training is that it combines theoretical content in the classroom with practical activities in real-life contexts. We accompany students on visits to markets, administrative tasks or interactions with citizens, allowing them to see the immediate usefulness of what they have learned. This methodology naturally increases motivation because when what you learn is useful in your daily life, the process becomes meaningful and transformative.

Towards complete citizenship
At Mumbai Smiles, we understand that knowing the languages of the host country is a fundamental right and necessity for migrants to connect beyond their immediate surroundings and fully practice their rights as citizens. This course not only teaches Spanish: it opens doors to more active participation in society and lays the foundation for true integration.
Building inclusive society together
