Covid-19 Emergency Aid Resumes

 In Community Health, COVID-19

This is the overall view of all the emergency actions deployed in the last weeks by Mumbai Smiles Foundation. Design by Andy Fox.

On 1st July, everyone was awaiting the announcement of the second unlock phase hoping to have further relief in the restrictions. People were hoping that an unlock would lift some of the restrictions enabling them to get back to their small business places and daily wagers were getting ready to start looking for a work.

Local trains, the lifeline of Mumbai were also expected to resume services by 3rd July so that people could travel hassle free.

However, considering the increased number of Covid-19 cases in the city, the Indian government has decided to extend the lockdown and yet again the ray of hope was getting hazy for many roadside dwellers.

We have been supporting the street dwellers and their families throughout the lockdown phase. We were hoping that these people would at least get back to their daily jobs after the second phase of unlock, however, with the lockdown getting extended it is imperative to continue supporting the people providing them with food and essential supplies. Therefore, we have decided to continue with the food distribution and extend our support to these needy over the next few days.
