61 citizens screened at Eye Checkup Camp

In Awareness, Eye & Health Care, Health, Mumbai Smiles

The Community Health project conducted its latest eye check-up camp in a small area called Vanicha Pada, which is located in the interiors of Aarey Colony, one of our project areas in the Northern part of Mumbai. This was the first health camp set up in Vanicha Pada and it saw a turn-out of a total of 61 citizens.

Of the 61 citizens who were screened for the various possible eye ailments, 13 were detected with refractive errors (who will shortly receive their prescribed spectacles as well from us) and 3 were detected with cataract and the process has been initiated for their free eye surgery. 13 more people were detected with some irregularities but since the spot-tests were inconclusive, they have been referred for further testing and the process is underway for the same.

We want to especially thank Mr. Sanjay Shinde, President of Navtarun Mitra Mandal (a community group of the mentioned area) who helped with complete logistical support to make this camp successful for his fellow community members.

Surrounded by the green lushes of the Aarey Forest, Vanicha Pada is an under developed and underprivileged area where we have recently started working and this health camp helped us build positive relationship with the community last week and we are in the process of starting more activities in this area very soon!
