Visitor’s Comment: “Your work is impressive” by Luis and Carmen

Everyday, lacks of people enter the City of Dreams, called Mumbai. While many are just travelers, many are migrants, escaping the web of unemployment and poverty in their hometowns in search of a better life in this city that is known to assure a survival. But over the last few decades, this has led to a huge web of poverty in the city. Poverty that is visible in the half-built shanties and slum areas, next to strong stench of sewers, unhygienic train tracks and garbage dumping yards.

At Mumbai Smiles, with our peaceful struggle against poverty through our 11 projects, we aim at eliminating this poverty in our project areas one day. And as an NGO, we strongly believe in transparency. That is why, as part of the Responsive Action project (under the area of work of Awareness), we encourage our donors, members, supporters and anyone & everyone to come, visit our project and see the results of their support with their own eyes! Last year, we had a total of 154 visitors belonging to 12 different countries and this year we are proud to say that we have had 84 visitors since April 2016 and the numbers are increasing every day, most of them as our donors and members!

In today’s blog, let us introduce you to a sweet couple who are our supporters – Luis and Carmen. Luis, a retired businessman and Carmen, a nurse were on a visit, when they decided to spend a few hours with us at Mumbai Smiles and visit our projects. Here is a look at their visit:
