Observing TB Awareness Day 2017

In Awareness, Events, Health, Infectious Diseases, Mumbai Smiles

The United Nations Theme for this year’s TB Awareness Day is “Unite to End TB”. And we stand with them. And coincidentally, something really important happened this year on March 16 that was long awaited – The National Health Policy was released after a gap of almost one and half decades and this is huge step for us as a country, in order to unite to fight against TB.

TB or Tuberculosis is a disease that was once completely fatal but with the advancement of medical technology is now completely treatable if detected on time. The Infectious Diseases Project team of Mumbai Smiles works hard to create awareness about this disease in the slum communities of our City of Dreams by way of free medical camps, awareness campaigns and rallies.

To commemorate this important day, Mumbai Smiles started a short series of awareness campaigns this month, starting with an Awareness Rally in our project are of Sangharshnagar. With 325 mothers, teachers, children and other community members in attendance, the rally was received very positively which was conducted by the beneficiaries of our various projects.

The events of today shall be updated very soon here on our blog with latest details that were organised to mark this important awareness day!
