Awareness Rally conducted on Dengue & Malaria

In Awareness, Events, Health, Infectious Diseases, Mumbai Smiles

The Infectious Diseases (ID) team recently conducted an awareness rally on two very dangerous infectious diseases, which are Dengue and Malaria, caused by mosquitoes carrying these diseases. The underprivileged communities such as those of the Mumbai slums, lack the necessary medium to gain adequate knowledge about the various diseases, infectious or otherwise and how to take preventive measures to avoid getting them. That is why, the ID team of Mumbai Smiles conducts such rallies and medical camps from time to time, firstly to create awareness about the causes, symptoms and treatment of such diseases and secondly to help those suffering with quality medical support.

This awareness rally was conducted in Suryanagar area in Vikroli, situated in the north of Mumbai with the aim to spread awareness in the citizens about how to keep our surroundings clean so as to avoid the breeding of the infectious mosquitoes and also to recognize the symptoms in case someone contracts the diseases, so as to take necessary medical treatment for the same.

With 79 health workers and staff of Mumbai Smiles Foundation as well Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Jitendra Jadhav participating in this rally, the rally included awareness through slogans as well as distribution of pamphlets and the response of the general public was very encouraging with some of them coming forward to ask questions about this rally and also about the diseases.

We wish to thank the local community leaders who helped us organise this rally in an organised and smooth manner and we hope that we soon will not need to do any more such rallies because the communities will have zero cases coming up for these diseases! That will be our complete success and we hope to see that day soon!
