A Session on Getting a Loan for SHGs

 In Mumbai Smiles, SEED

P1080083In order to make our beneficiaries aware of the process of getting a loan especially for Bachat Gats (Self Help Groups) a MFI (Micro Finance Institution) Session was conducted for them. This was for the SEED women who were also guided as to how one can start a new Bachat Gat. A total of 75 women attended the session and the Resource Persons were from The Greater Bombay Co-operative Bank. This session was conducted at Birsa Munda Hall, Adivasi Samaj Sangh, Andheri (East).

P1080077An introduction about Mumbai Smiles was done by Mr. Kalidas Rote (FCO, SEED Project). Then, Mr. Yogesh Nair (Branch Manager of Greater Bombay Co-operative Bank) and Mrs. Vaishali (Bank Representative) explained the process of getting a loan for Bachat Gats. The women were also made aware of the documents required for receiving a loan—Pan Card, SHG Bachat Gat Letter head, Aadhar Card, Ration card, 2 Photographs. Another important aspect was brought to light; there should be at least a minimum of 5 women in a SHG and should have clarity about the business they wish to start. Mrs. Vaishali also spoke about the process of getting a loan anywhere between Rs.50,000 to 5, 00,000. She made them understand that the loan is provided based on the business and also assured them her guidance and support during this process. All in all, a successful event that guided women towards becoming self-sufficient.
