 In Mumbai Smiles

24 feb I

A one day orientation workshop was organized for the SEED project Stakeholders on 18th Feb 2014. The workshop went on from 9 am to 5 pm. The primary reason for conducting this workshop was to build capacity for our partner organizations and apprise them of our modus operandi so as to bring uniformity in the functioning of all the projects. It started with an introduction of Mumbai Smiles. Post the introduction, there were various sessions that shed light on aspects such as selection criteria of beneficiaries and trainers, reporting formats, discussions on pedagogical methods to be used in training, evaluation criteria to be adopted for candidates etc.

All the sessions were very informative, especially the one on ‘learning from SEED models for Better Economic and Social Development Outcomes’. The sessions further highlighted the achievements of SEED team and apprised participants of the challenges that come up in the projects.

SEED trainees, trainers, collaborating institutions such as MIDC Computer centre, representatives from Tailoring centre and other prospective partners representing various NGOs took part in the workshop. We believe such exchange of information will bring positive results in future. A key highlight of the workshop was the session on ‘Vision Exercise for Future Development’. In this session an attempt was made to define a specific role for each stakeholder. These workshops will help less privileged communities to leverage knowledge and skills, which will consequently improve the livelihood of people in these communities.

We thank the members of our SEED team who make a real difference in the lives of underprivileged women. We hope The SEED team will continue to inspire us with its innovative thinking in the area of livelihood and empowerment for years to come.
