Champions of the Month – Akshay & Aman

The paediatric oncology program of Mumbai Smiles, HOPE recently celebrated its last Champion of the Month for the year 2016-17, before the closing of the year. This time, two brave young kids were felicitated at this event, Akshay and Aman. Both these boys are suffering from different kinds of blood cancer.

Akshay, who is suffering from Leukemia, has completed 4 cycles of the chemo cycle, while Aman, who is suffering from Lymphoma has completed 3 cycles of chemo. Both of them have been really regular with not just their treatment cycles, but also with their other life activities, fighting the battle with cancer very bravely, with a smile on their faces and complete mental strength for themselves as well as their family.

This time, as part of this event, we also had a visitor, a Spanish national, Albert, who is a lawyer by profession but is working in India for a few months, who decided to visit our projects that day. He interacted with the beneficiaries in the event, including the champions of the month and presented them with gifts too.

We are extending all the support we can to help Akshay, Aman and other underprivileged children like these to fight with the fatal disease of cancer. In our fight against poverty in Mumbai, this is a small step, but we hope it helps make a difference in this section of the society to fight with the bitter side of life better!
