67th Republic Day Celebrations in Partner Schools

 In Future Smiles

IMG_0111Mumbai Smiles celebrated 67th Republic Day at two of its partner schools- Samta Vidya Mandir and Savitribai Phule. The event at Samta Vidya Mandir was graced with Dr. Nirmal Ahuja as the Chief Guest and Mr. Pravin Birhade as Field Coordinator and at Savitribai Phule, Mrs. Kushala Shetty as Chief Guest and Mr. Sachin Bhagat as Program Officer. Guests present during these events included students, parents, teachers, trustees, alumnus and respective Principals.

IMG_0082The event began with flag hoisting and National Anthem, post which, the Chief Guests at the respective schools opened the event. Followed by this were various activities performed by the students which included-Elocution: Students gave speech about how Indian Freedom fighters fought against British Govt. , how India became an independence country and why we celebrate Republic day?

Dance: Students from Samta Vidya Mandir presented diversity through the dance of each state of India explaining its local food, life style, main festivals etc and conveyed the message; Unity from Diversity of India.

Human Pyramid Presentation: Samta Vidya Mandir English Medium students presented the Human Pyramids on a song.

Alumnus Welcome and Speech: One of the students who is now a Police Inspector in Sakinaka shared the experience and gave a very motivational & inspiring speech to students about the life & how we can become responsible citizens of India.

Patriotic Singing Performances by students

Prize Distributions: There are students of schools who won first prizes in sports, Cultural activities. The Chief Guest for Samta Vidya Madir Dr.Nirmal Ahuja, Unit Head of Health Department  & Chief Guest for Savitribai Phule Girls School Mrs. Kushala Shetty & Mr. Sachin Bhagat  distributed the prizes and congratulated the students.

Reaction to the event-

School Teacher of Samta Vidya Mandir Mr. Anil said “Mumbai Smiles is a great organization who supports our needy students in education through scholarships. Mumbai Smiles staff is so cooperative and helpful doing a lot of hard work for the students. They are not just giving scholarship to students but have also conducted done Eye camps and distributed the spectacles to our students. From these camp students and parents were made aware about various eye defects in children. We appreciate the work from Mumbai Smiles.”
