Our dear friend and collaborator, Merce Luna visits Mumbai Smiles!!
Encouraging visits has always been an important aspect of Mumbai Smiles .
On 3rd of November 2016, Merce Luna, a very dear friend and collaborator of Mumbai Smiles visited our organisation for a period of 2 days. During her stay she visited several projects running in the field. She began her visit with one of our Preschool centres and one Model Preschool where she interacted with the children and joined in the celebration of that day with them.
Another project very dear to her heart; the 1000 hands livelihood centre was what she visited next. Throughout her visit she had the opportunity to interact with the beneficiaries and understand the challenges they face and how their lives are being transformed after being involved in the projects of Mumbai Smiles. One the of the highlights of the visit was the interaction with the beneficiaries of the LSE project where she had a chance to meet the adolescent girls and see how truly they have made the project their own and are eager to share all that they learn with their friends and families. It was an eye opener for Merce to see the situations encountered by them as adolescents in the slums and how they aim to be change agents not just among their families and friends but for the society at large. Their sheer determination and courage was simply commendable!
Some of the other projects visited during her stay with us was one community meeting for the Jump2Justice project and a beauty salon run by one of our very own beneficiaries of the Livelihood centre. Overall her visit was extremely fruitful. Having spent two full days with the organisation she was very pleased with her visit and has a great desire to return and visit us again!
