Knowledge of one’s rights is the first step to protecting oneself from exploitation and human rights violation. Ethical behaviour, justice and human dignity – the three pillars of human rights, have been important in development of human societies across the world. Adolescents and youth, the future of societies, can take an active role in protection and preservation of human rights for generations. Towards this end, in our endeavour to nurture young responsible adults, an awareness session on fundamental human rights and prevention against human rights violation was organized for 39 LSE beneficiaries.

The Jump2Justice team introduced the concept of human rights, explaining the five basic human rights as defined by the Constitution of India – Right to Equality, Right to Freedom, Rights against Exploitation, Right to Religion, Cultural & Educational Rights, and Right to Constitutional Remedies. Beneficiaries were also guided on how to exercise their rights with consideration for the rights of others. Responsibilities and duties towards other people and the community at large were explained to help beneficiaries understand their role towards equality and fairness for all.
