Jump2Justice conducts awareness session on RTE

 In Jump2Justice, Mumbai Smiles

Spreading education among the marginalised communities in the city’s slums is one of the primary aims of Mumbai Smiles. We believe strongly in the transformative power of education as a way to raise people out of poverty and deprivation. One of the most important laws regarding education in India is the Right to Education, which makes free and compulsory education the right of every Indian child between 6 to 14 years of age. Our Jump2Justice project works to bring awareness of this law to the people who need it the most, so that they are in a better position to access their right to education for their children

The Jump2Justice project held three awareness sessions on the Right to Education from 18 to 20 September, 2018. These sessions were held at Hanuman Nagar in Bhandup. The main attendees were parents from our preschool centres. The sessions helped them to understand the provisions of the law. There was a special focus on helping the parents identify if and when their human rights are violated in the pursuit of education. Such sessions will help the law to reach its full potential and impact in our society.
