An International Women’s Day Celebration worth Remembering
“The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world” – Charles Malik
The International Women’s Day was celebrated all over the world on the 8th of March. Keeping the occasion in mind, Mumbai Smiles collaborated with Radio Mirchi Activations to conduct a live concert in Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium, Sion on the 7th of March. The star attraction at the event was top Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik.
The event was attended by more than 2000 people. Alka Yagnik sung many of her famous songs and was accompanied by her band. Mr. Chetan Rana, yet another established singer accompanied her for some of her duets.
The highlight of the evening was when Mumbai Smiles Executive Director India, Mr. Narendra Kumar Dundu along with SEED beneficiary Rasika presented Alka Yagnik with a bouquet of roses made by SEED women along with a handmade greeting card. The Executive Director India also spoke about Mumbai Smiles celebrating 10 years of serving the disempowered and mentioned about the various projects undertaken by Mumbai Smiles within the community. The SEED project looks to empower women socially and economically and also aims to promote gender equality. Mirchi Live, conducted a very successful event for the cause of supporting women empowerment.
Mumbai Smiles had a desk outside the main entry hall. Many people came and inquired about the organization. Some of them were even interested in collaborating with us. All in all, it was an enjoyable evening and a great platform for Mumbai Smiles to reach out to such a large number of people.
