An impactful Sant Jordi Festival
A total of EUR 16,000 was raised that will be used to fund the GIRL initiative that promotes schooling of the girl child in Mumbai’s poorest pockets.
2nd May
On April 23, Barcelona celebrated the beautiful festival of Sant Jordi. Sant Jordi, a patron Saint for the Spanish, is regarded a legend, and the day is celebrated by honouring dragons, roses, and books.
Mumbai Smiles Foundation played an important role in this year’s Sant Jordi festival, as the fabric roses that were sold were developed by our beneficiaries. Furthermore, Mumbai Smiles Foundation founder Jaume Sanllorente was present to sign his books and interact with the people present there.
The event was a huge success, as over 3,800 roses were sold along with a hundred books, thereby raising EUR 16,000 that will be used to fund the GIRL initiative. The Girl initiative promotes schooling of the girl child in Mumbai’s poorest pockets.
Jaume, too, had a wonderful time at the event where he spent three hours singing books and interacting with all those who had come in to meet him.
Several companies loved the fabric roses that were stitched by our beneficiaries. A number of companies wanted to buy the roses to give their employees.
Mumbai Smiles Foundation would like to thank everyone for organizing the beautiful festival of Sant Jordi.
Until next year!
