31 visitors from Denmark and Nepal, of which 10 were Nepalese, visited Mumbai Smiles in the month of April 2014. They were participants of Global Citizens course hosted by Action Aid International, where they study about globalization and human rights. During their stay in Mumbai, they investigated the development work carried out in the slum areas for empowerment of the underprivileged children.

A presentation was organized to inform the visitors about the various projects of Mumbai Smiles. Post the presentation, they visited the Balwadi in Powai and witnessed the Performance Report card distribution.

There was an open discussion at the Balwadi after the report cards were distributed. The participants asked various questions to the Balwadi Program Officer, Vikas and cleared their doubts. The visitors were very inquisitive and desired to know more about the challenges that we face in our development work and how we overcome them. They met the students, teachers and children at the Balwadi and gathered information about the development process and activities.

Our Volunteers, Shruti and Deep, assisted the visitors during the visit.

In fact, the group members gave us the following feedback:

“A hearty thanks to you for a wonderful presentation and visit to one of the Balwadis. You made my day! We, from the Global Citizens Course will definitely use what we have learned here in our future course.” – Rosa and the group members
