30 Wall Paintings done under Infectious Diseases Project
Infectious Diseases, one of our relatively new Project aims to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases i.e. Leprosy, HIV-AID, TB, Malaria & Dengue in 5 of our project areas, Marol, Sangharshnagar, Powai, Kanjurmarg & Vikhroli.
To disseminate information regarding the same, wall paintings were done on the infectious health issues. We believe this to be an effective tool for creating awareness on such key problems in the urban slums. Locations were selected wherein most reach is possible for the people of the community.
In total 30 wall paintings were done in the project areas of Mumbai Smiles. This was done in prime locations with incredible support from the BMC Health Department and BMC Commissioner’s Office.
These wall paintings were also done as a support to the BMC to fulfill the concept of ‘Beautiful Mumbai’, further strengthening our relation with them. The man behind these incredible paintings is Mr.Prakas Yadav who lives in the slum at Mahatama Phule Nagar, Powai. This work was given to him as a livelihood opportunity for him. The work done by him is awesome and portrays the message we hoped it would.
