Hope Project Team organizes a Beneficiary meeting

On 22nd November 2013, The Mumbai Smiles HOPE Project Team organized a Beneficiary Committee meeting at Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri (East), Mumbai in order to assess the impact of HOPE project and to take suggestions and opinions from the beneficiaries and counterparts of the Project.

Members present included Ms.Alexandra (General Director, Mumbai Smiles),Dr. Nirmal Ahuja (Head of Health Unit, Mumbai Smiles), Supriya Dhumal (Field Coordinator, HOPE Project), Sr. Metilda (Sister In-charge in Cancer Center, Holy Spirit Hospital), Sr. Navmani (Hope Project accountant – Holy Spirit Hospital), Ms.Nino R.(Social Worker Holy Spirit Hospital)

The key agendas of the meeting were to take feedback from Beneficiary Committee Members on the HOPE Project – its overall achievement and progress, to evaluate the activities carried under HOPE Project, to suggest improvements and changes required as part of the project activity and to hold a general discussion between HOPE Team Beneficiaries and the Counterparts i.e. Mumbai Smiles and Holy Spirit Hospital.The meeting started with an introduction of all beneficiary committee members by Supriya Dhumal. Alexandra chaired the meeting. Dr.Nirmal Ahuja warmly welcomed all the members and beneficiaries. She briefly elaborated on the objectives and activities of Hope Project and the significance of conducting such meetings. With this, the floor was left open for discussions and suggestions. Beneficiary members were encouraged to come forward and share their experiences.

Suchitra Mankar, mother of Ananya Mankar – a HOPE beneficiary who is suffering from Leukaemia – a form of blood cancer, was among the first to share her experience. She appreciated all the project activities and efforts of Mumbai Smiles and HSH Team. She has been actively involved in all project activities since last 3 years. She further emphasized the importance of events like Champion of the month, Motivational talks, Nutritional Counseling sessions etc.

Laxmi Poojari, aunt of Riddhi Salian, a 3 year old suffering from Rhabdomyosarcoma – a form of Nose Cancer, also shared her experience. She takes care of Riddhi’s hospitalization and treatment. She extended her gratitude to Mumbai Smiles for all the assistance she has received from them.

In the end, Dr. Nirmal gave her vote of thanks to all the members present for attending the meeting and making it a success. Alexandra urged all the beneficiary members to further share their ideas with the HOPE TEAM. All the participants resolved to work together as a family for the betterment of the beneficiaries and to fight against cancer
