Eye Check-up Camp at all 30 Balwadis

Generally when a child is of such a young age (1-6 years) we tend to ignore the basic check-ups. One believes that eye problems only come to those who are of old age. Owing to this; Mumbai Smiles conducted eye camps at all its 30 Balwadis wherein a total of 930 children were screened. These camps were set up in collaboration with Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, Wadala.

A total of 119 children were observed to have had some eye problems so these children were referred for second step screening at area wise Balwadis. In second round screening a total of 15 children were screened for spectacles and 18 children were referred for further treatment at Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, Wadala.

For these camps a parent’s feedback was- “ We generally do not check children’s eyes at this age, but through Mumbai Smiles eye check-up camp all the children were benefited”. –Jyotsana Dhiresh Jadhav (Parent of child at Balwadi no. 12, Sangharsh Nagar)
