A Night Of Solidarity
A Night Of Solidarity
What started in 2005 as a simple initiative to help out the needy and underprivileged, has now grown into the dynamic NGO we all know as Mumbai Smiles. Today, Mumbai Smiles is the ray of hope for hundreds of underprivileged people who dream of living a socially empowered life. Over the years, we have built a dynamic, driven and passionate global team to make a difference in society. We envision a Mumbai free of poverty and social injustice, whereby all its citizens can equally enjoy the most basic human rights.
It has now been 10 years since the journey started. And we have seen positive progress as far as making an impact in the lives of people is concerned. In the last 10 years, Mumbai Smiles has grown to reach out to 35000 households, 7000 pregnant and nursing women, 775 children below 6 years of age, 500 adolescents and 600 women in the slums. As part of our 10 year celebration, we are organizing a solidarity dinner at the Orchid Hotel, Vile Parle (East) on 11th April.
The evening will be made special by some stellar live performances by different artists. Among them is Bhavana Saripalli, an upcoming Indian singer who has done more than 50 live stage shows. She is a brilliant singer who is expected to set the mood for the evening with some all time favorite Indian melodies.
Also gracing the event will be semi classical dancer, Saee Tendulkar who has participated in several stage shows. She has won a lot of acclaim for her performances internationally. She is expected to fuse the east and the west together through her performance.
The third and final performance will be by Mumbai-based band Black Heart featuring Nilus Rodricks and Maclean Lewis. The band plays alternative blues genre and features acoustic guitar and vocals. They are expected to play their original compositions. Their talent will surely enthrall several music lovers.
Through the various cultural performances, it is expected that the evening will be successful as far as raising social awareness is concerned. Through this event, Mumbai Smiles brings to you ‘So SHE shines’ and YOU can be the one helping her shine.
