Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”- Mahatma Gandhi

The Future Smiles project was designed with the motto of ‘Educating Disadvantaged Youth in Mumbai and has envisioned mentoring and providing scholarships to needy and ambitious youth in the age group of 13 – 22 years from underprivileged background. The project aims at providing individual mentoring, group learning, exposure to various successful institutions and personalities, thereby ensuring a holistic development along with the social empowerment of student beneficiaries. The project also promotes Girl Child Education which ensures free education for adolescent girls in the age group of 6 – 13 years from underprivileged families. Through counseling and capacity building, it also ensures that most of the students are enrolled in professional courses in order to empower them to rise above the poverty line and lead a life with dignity.
With the objective to reach out to large number of beneficiaries, it is imperative that we partner with as many schools as possible for this purpose. A meeting was hence organized for this purpose on 12th January 2015, wherein principals from 18 schools were invited to partner with Mumbai Smiles. 9 of such 18 Principals came forward to partner with us. With this partnership, we look forward to provide scholarship to children from underprivileged backgrounds and ensure that they get equal opportunities to succeed in life.
Concerns that were raised during our earlier intra beneficiary meetings were also integrated and addressed during this meeting with principals. All principals unanimously sought infrastructure, school utility and teacher training supports through this partnership.
Mr. Pawar from Ravi Kiran School, Vikhroli had the following to say: “We are extremely happy with the kind of support that Mumbai Smiles has provided to us. In future we would be very obliged if Mumbai Smiles could provide for teacher training programs to motivate our teachers.”
We look forward to create the requisite impact through these partnerships by reaching out to underprivileged sections of the society.
