Visits to homes of primary school students conducted

 In Mumbai Smiles

Community visits and interaction are a very important part of our work. They keep us aware of the changing needs of the people and help us to see whether our services are going to the right beneficiaries. It is not enough to put in resources and manpower into creating welfare and education projects; it is also important to ensure that these projects actually reach the people that they have been designed for and are not misused or misdirected in any way.

Towards that end, the Mumbai Smiles field co-ordinators conducted home visits at Sathe Nagar, Govandi on 10 August 2018. These visits were intended to verify that the students enrolled under the Primary School Project in the area are actually residents of the disadvantaged community here. Interaction with the family members of the students was also an important aspect of the visit—it helped the field coordinators to understand the challenges faced by the students and how to help them within the guidelines of the project.
