Thank you – Gurutze and Montse

Our 10 year journey has brought us in contact with some great people who truly care about making the world a better place to live in and Gurutze and Montse are definitely few of them.

Years ago, Montse read Jaume’s book on Mumbai Smiles and said to her sister, “Dear sister, for a good cause like this one and hoping one day we can travel to India and get to know this project, wouldn’t it be a nice excuse?  Who knows if that’s the NGO you’re looking forward to help…” Montse’s words were apt. Gurutze came to Mumbai this January and had the opportunity to view the impact of various projects carried out by Mumbai Smiles. (https://www.mumbaismiles.org/gurtuze-visits-mumbai-smiles/).

Both Gurutze and Montse had a dream to support Mumbai Smiles and especially Balwadi No. 24 so as to allow 30 balwadi kids to continue their educational and nutritional plans. Balwadi 24 was in need of funds – 6,595€ for the 2015-16 course. To raise these funds, Gurutze and Montse launched a challenge named “Get 6.630 euros in a month” through migranodearena.com. Through this portal, they were able to make this dream a reality and enable 30 families, pupils and students to support the right to education.

Further, Gurutze played key a role to raise funds and invite people for our 10^th year celebration. While in Mumbai, she helped us manage invitations for this event. She came to office every day and worked closely with Natasha. She mailed, messaged and invited people for the event. Due to her continual efforts, more than 1200 people turned up at the week long events of Mumbai Smiles 10th year anniversary.
