On November 5th 2014, The Mumbai Smiles Balwadi Project Team organized a beneficiary committee meeting to assess the impact of the project and to take feedback and suggestions from the beneficiaries of the Balwadi Project so as to expand the reach of the program and improve it. The meeting was held from 2-4 p.m. at Mumbai Smiles head office. The main objective of the meeting was to:

  • Take feedback from beneficiary committee members regarding the Balwadi Project.
  • Evaluate Balwadi Project’s accomplishment.
  • Suggest improvements and changes in the project activity.
  • Create a platform for interaction among Balwadi Project Team, Health Unit head, beneficiaries and the Executive Director.

The meeting started with introduction of all beneficiaries and a welcome note by Vikas (Program Officer Balwadi). He gave an introduction of the Balwadi project, shared the agenda of the meeting and also briefed about other projects of Mumbai Smiles.  Motivating the Balwadi team members, Mr. Narendra Kumar Dundu came forward and appreciated the members for their contribution. Dr. Nirmal Ahuja gave information about child health care and the importance of children’s health upto 5 years and congratulated the entire team for support. The floor was then thrown open for discussions and feedback. We got an enriching feedback from our beneficiaries which we think is definitely worth sharing. Here are some of them:

Shakuntala Vishwakarma, resident of Garib Nagar, Powai,-“My daughter is 3 and half years old now. Before enrollment with the Balwadis, she was very weak and didn’t use her hands while eating. However, now, she has developed this habit, her growth is in progress and her weight and height are also in proportion.”

Niharbanu Shaikh, mother of Akbar Ali Mohd. – a beneficiary of our Balwadi project, – “I am uneducated and I don’t know how to read and write but my son teaches me names of vegetables, fruits, English alphabets and many other things every day. He even spreads good habits among community members such as washing hands before eating, regular bath and cleanliness. He has started taking phone calls, and speaks fluently in hindi and enlgish while communicating. All my family members are happy seeing his progress, and appreciate Mumbai smiles and SAPREM for maintaining discipline in all balwadis.”

Anjana Sandeep Koli, mother of Atharva Sandeep Koi,-“Since birth, my son weighed less and my family doctor told us that my child will never able to talk. After enrollment in the balwadi, he has started to talk and is also very active in all activities viz. playing, eating etc. He has stopped using bad word. I am thankful to teachers, assistants and the Balwadi staff who have made all this possible.”

These are just some of the many feedbacks that we received during discussions. We are overwhelmed by the responses and feel more determined to uplift the beneficiaries in our strategic areas of operation.

We look forward to work together as a family for the betterment of the beneficiaries and fight for Right to education and Health.
