Oliver Roura: articulating the smiles through pictures

These words of Khalil Gibran sums up what one of our visitors has dedicated to Mumbai Smiles. Through the Awareness programs, several visitors from all over the world visit Mumbai Smiles’ projects. These visits help the visitors to gain a perspective about the realities faced by the people living in slums and also help Mumbai Smiles to reach out to more and more people. Oliver Roura during his visits contributed his skills to capture the minutest details of our projects through pictures and videos. His dedication to involve with the projects brought alive the smiles of our beneficiaries.

He shared his experience at Mumbai Smiles as “Knowing Mumbai Smile has been a lesson of life. I only have words of appreciation for having given me the opportunity to live this wonderful experience. The most humble smiles are the most powerful. ‘Mumbai Smiles’ fills the slums with those smiles, from the small girls and boys that go to the Balwadis to the elderly men that have their eyes checked in the eye camps. Mumbai Smiles can widen your heart to a degree that one cannot believe. The pleasure has been enormous. I only hope that this relation that I have now begun lasts for the longest time possible and although it would be distant, I hope the collaboration continues”
