New syllabus introduced in a few preschools

 In Mumbai Smiles

The word ‘syllabus’ probably incites fear in many of us, as we remember days from our childhood spent furiously memorising before examinations. However, a syllabus is much more than a list of things to learn in order to pass exams. Crafting a syllabus is an incredibly difficult and delicate task—it requires a balance of a child’s learning needs, the time available in the classroom, the tools available to the teacher and the best possible outcome that can be achieved given all these factors.

At Mumbai Smiles, we are always working hard to refine the syllabus being taught at our schools to make it more appropriate and responsive to the needs of the students. We recently introduced a new syllabus at a few of our preschools in Powai. Here the students are taking part in activities such as yoga and simple geometry sessions to help them improve their focus and concentration. In order to ease the learning process, infrastructural improvements such as air conditioning and new furniture have been provided at some centres. The overall emphasis of this new syllabus is to increase the children’s focus and confidence, so that they look forward to coming to school and start the process of becoming educated, dynamic individuals in future.
