Mumbai Smiles reaches out to children – this time in R City Mall and felicitates it unsung heroes
The collaborative event at R city Mall held on the 9th of August 2013, saw a massive gathering from children to adults where 3 agencies assembled on a common platform. Senior dignitaries from the mall invited Mumbai Smiles as part of their effort to felicitate unsung heroes. The gift partner, Mira designs sponsored the trophies for the grass root workers who have worked towards uplifting the underprivileged communities.
The event was organized with a 2 pronged approach; one being to take Mumbai Smiles to the public and spread awareness about the organization and the other was to recognize unsung heroes from the Mumbai Smiles family.
Mumbai Smiles has been working for underprivileged children and their upliftment since 2004 that works in the slums of Andheri. Mumbai Smiles is ever willing to partner with the government, private sector, individuals and potential stakeholders with a common vision to work for empowering the communities that need intervention. In its quest to spread awareness about the organization and its initiatives, Mumbai Smiles held multiple contests and interactive sessions with children during the day at R city mall.
In the evening, it was time to celebrate the unsung heroes who have delivered time and again and recognize them for their outstanding performance. Mr. Narendra Kumar, Executive Director, Mumbai Smiles, Mr. Silas Kapadia, Center Director – R city and Mr. Ashish Bhatt, Founder and CEO, Mira Designs were among the dignitaries who felicitated the representatives of Mumbai smiles for their achievements. From among the 8 grass root level workers of Mumbai Smiles who received the awards, we had field coordinators of the Balwadi project of Mumbai Smiles, Field Coordinator for the HOPE project working for cancer children, Trainer for the IGP (income generation program) that empowers women and the Balwadi teachers.
