Mumbai Smiles & its Beneficiaries at mMitra Conference

 In Mumbai Smiles

One of the youngest projects of Mumbai Smiles is the Maternal & Child Health Project. This Project is a part of the global MAMA partnership (Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action) and ARMMAN, running by the name of mMitra Project, focused on the use of mobile based messaging to address maternal and infant mortality problems around the world and Mumbai Smiles focuses on the issue in the Andheri East area of Mumbai.

Recently, ARMMAN had organised a conference on Maternal and Child Health and had invited dignitaries from various medical and administrative fields, along with the beneficiaries of Mumbai Smiles to share experiences. The conference aimed to provide space for a diverse range of stakeholders to voice their opinions, analysis, proposals and aspirations in implementing technology-based programmes in the field of maternal and child health.

Mumbai Smiles, as one of the implementing ambassadors of the program was also present at this conference along with some of the beneficiaries who shared their own experiences and mentioned how it benefitted them throughout their pregnancy.

Mrs. Vaishali Kamble, one of the Mumbai Smiles beneficiaries said, “This project helped me track my pregnancy properly and helped reduce my fear of pregnancy and delivery as well”.

Agreeing with one of the panelists at the conference, Mr. Jayant Bhatiya, IAS (Indian Administrative Service), we believe that beneficiaries should be at the heart of the technology and with that, we aim to reach out to more women and children through our Maternal & Child Health project.
