Monitoring and evaluation visit to Govandi preschool

As we expand our presence throughout the slums of Mumbai and inaugurate new schools and centres, it is the Monitoring & Evaluation department which ensures that each of these institutions uphold the quality standards of Mumbai Smiles. Regular visits to all our centres help our team to know the beneficiaries and their problems better, as well as to observe the centres at work and improve their overall functioning.

On 17 October 2018, a Monitoring & Evaluation officer visited our new preschool at Govandi to interact with the children and also to assess the quality of teaching-learning. The officer observed the street children learning pre-language and pre-math skills. The teachers also helped the children to work on their listening skills, to learn the right way to ask questions in class by raising their hand, etc. Apart from subject-based learning, such lessons are also important for children to prepare for their school life. All in all, the visit to the Govandi preschool showed that it is on track towards providing quality education to the street children.
