Meet our SMALL WONDERS!!!

In the last blog we introduced you to the screening of short film, SMILEYWOOD. You all must be curious to know more about our small wonders i.e. protagonists of the movie, Ameesha & Raj. Both these characters play friends in the movie but in real life they are siblings. They come from a small closely knit family of four which includes their mom & dad. Their father is a daily wage earner and mother a vegetable vendor. Monthly family income is a meager amount of Rs. 6000. They struggle daily to meet both ends of the family. Amidst all the adversities, their mother dreams to see her daughter become a teacher and son; a naval officer.

Currently Ameesha is enrolled in 6th Std. in St. John’s School and Raj in 5th Std. Pragatik school. Ameesha is also our Life Skill Education project beneficiary. The learnings gained by her during  LSE (Life Skills Education) sessions was very well portrayed in her attitude, behaviour and confidence during the shoot for the documentary.

Both the kids are very confident and have set goals for themselves for a bright future. But poor financial condition is the main constraint which can hinder their path of accomplishing dreams.

But Mumbai Smiles believes that no kid shall be deprived of quality education despite of their poor financial condition. So on the day of SMILEYWOOD screening; the kids got a lovely surprise of being awarded the scholarship for accomplishing their goals under the FUTURE SMILES project.

So the story doesn’t end with SMILEYWOOD but its a lovely beginning for a beautiful future!!!
