Eye checkup camp at Sundrabai School

The eye and health care project of Mumbai Smiles provides eye/health care screening & treatment facilities to the underprivileged communities. The project aims to increase awareness and improve access to eye/health care services. Mumbai Smiles has successfully carried out 20 camps for eye checkup in partnership with Haji Bacchu Ali Eye Hospital, Vision Foundation of India and Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital.

We recently organized an eye checkup camp at Sundrabai School, Military Camp Road, Andheri East on 17th and 19th March, for primary and secondary school children. The objective of this event was to spread awareness on eye disorders, their early detection and to detect refractive errors and eye ailments among school children.

The camp was organized in collaboration with Aditya jyot foundation and Saperm. 246 children were screened on the 1st day and 65 were detected with eye problems. On 19th March, another 130 children were screened. Overall 376 children were screened. 7 children were detected with Infection and 40 were detected with refractive errors.

Sundrabai School teachers and principal and Preeti and Vipul from Future Smiles team of Mumbai Smiles coordinated for the success of this camp. The Principal and teachers thanked the team for organizing such a camp.

Follow up treatment and spectacles distribution is taking place as per the requirement.
