72nd Independence Day Celebration at Preschool Centres
On the 15th August 2018, India celebrated its 72nd Independence Day. A celebration where the diverse population come together as a nation to pay homage and offer gratitude to the sacrifices made by the people, many who laid down their life for the freedom struggle.
We celebrated the Independence Day at all the preschool centres being run by Mumbai Smiles Foundation and distributed new school bags and uniforms.
All the preschool centres were decorated beautifully with marigold, tricolour balloons and colourful designs created by teachers. Children were equally enthusiastic about the celebration and were all dressed up in colourful and traditional dresses.
The day started with the flag hosting ceremony which was followed by the faculty recalling the struggle for Independence and the learning from the various National Leaders. Parents also participated enthusiastically along with their children and shared some inspiring stories of the freedom struggle. One of the comments shared by a parent SurajVadekar (Parents of Phule Nagar, Preschool No.13) was:“This is the very nice experience to me about the Independence day celebration event and I really enjoyed this event with my daughter who enthusiastically participated in the events organized at the preschool centre”
The celebrations were followed with important discussions with the parents where we touched upon topics emphasizing the importance of education for the girl child. Parents were participative and appreciated the efforts put in by Mumbai Smiles by making this day meaningful for everyone.
The celebrations concluded with the recital of the Indian National Anthem.
