70 Children benefit from Eye Camp

 In Mumbai Smiles

Our Community Health project addresses the issues of health in the underprivileged areas of Andheri east and its neighbouring areas by organizing free health check up camps in the communities for various eye and dental ailments, whereby the community citizens are screened for the different possible eye and dental conditions. While the less serious cases are resolved on the spot with the help of free medicines and quick treatments, the cases that require further procedures are then directed towards our partner healthcare facility for the treatment, as much as possible.

The latest eye check-up camp was conducted for the young girls and boys of the Marol slum areas, most of whom are a part of our Life Skills Empowerment project. They were screened for refractive errors, cataract and other eye ailments.

Of the 70 girls and boys who were screened, 9 adolescents were identified with refractive error, whom will all soon be provided with spectacles are being developed and 14 more have been referred to one of our partner healthcare facilities for further check-up and treatment.
