Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve .You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love and you can be that servant.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The volunteers at Mumbai Smiles are examples of such greatness. They work whole heartedly towards a cause and play a substantial role in the upliftment of the society. One such volunteer who recently contributed such a cause was Tanvi Shetty. Tanvi has a flair for writing and thus we decided to give her responsibilities according to her area of interest. She was given the task to write case studies of 30 Future Smiles beneficiaries. Tanvi successfully completed this task and these case studies will now be published in a book that will highlight the success of our Future Smiles project.

When we asked her to share her experience of working with Mumbai Smiles , she had the following to say:

“When I first came to Mumbai Smiles a year ago, I didn’t know what to expect from an NGO, never having been a part of one before. I was intimidated by the various projects and the number of people handling them. But as soon as I received my brief and was introduced to the rest of the staff members, I was disarmed by  their warmth and encouragement, and I instantly felt like a part of a big family. Having had a fantastic period of volunteering in 2013, I didn’t think twice before applying for volunteer-ship once again in the summer of 2014. The sheer dedication and zeal with which each member of the team works to empower the unfortunate members of our city is incredibly inspiring, and I cannot think of a better organization to be associated with.”
