Vishal and Vikas, our champions of the month

Cancer is so limited…

It cannot cripple love

It cannot shatter hope

It cannot corrode faith

It cannot invade the soul

It cannot conquer the spirit”

Such is also the belief of our champions of the month, Vishal Prajapati and Vikas Gupta. Vishal is 6 years old and has Wilms Tumour. On the other hand, Vikas is 12 years old and has Carcinoma Nasopharyngeal.  Vishal has recently undergone chemotherapy in Holy Spirit Hospital and a surgery in Thane Hospital. Unfortunately, these treatments took place on his birthday and he wasn’t able to celebrate his birthday. On the other hand, Vikas has also recently undergone chemo cycle in Prince Aly Khan Hospital, along with 40 radiations in Holy Spirit Hospital.

The Champion of the Month program was organised on 16th July 2014 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri East. This program is organised every month:

 

• To help the beneficiaries cope up with stress related to treatment

 

• To boost the morale of the beneficiaries in their fight against cancer

 

The program started with welcoming of all guests and beneficiaries. This was followed by a cake cutting ceremony and distribution of gifts among the beneficiaries. Dr. Evlet, from Holy Spirit Hospital, motivated the HOPE beneficiaries.Also, we would like to highlight that this was the first time when three students – Mohit, Rahul and Omkar from CMP Homeopathy College were given an opportunity to analyze the achievements of HOPE Project on the basis of a well-designed questionnaire. For this purpose, they took feedback from parents as well as beneficiaries. This was a great exercise as it helped us track the performance of our HOPE project.

It was heartening to see all the beneficiaries present, along with their parents and siblings, despite heavy rains. The beneficiaries enjoyed the event thoroughly and for sometime, they forgot about their battle against cancer. Even more touching was the sight of the parents of these beneficiaries, who were extremely delighted to see happiness in the eyes of their children after a prolonged period of time.
