Spanish Govindas grace India with their presence during the Janmasthami week

 In Mumbai Smiles

28 AUG I

During the Janmasthami week, a well known Indian festival where people celebrate by making human pyramids, members of Spanish origin participated in full swing. A group of 190 people from Spain came to India this year to celebrate the festival. They have their own unique way of creating the human pyramid. With a lot of support from the local corporator and his family, Mumbai Smiles was successful in putting together a massive event and hosted the Spanish Govindas here in Mumbai. The Spanish people – from a different country, a different culture, a different background altogether came to India to perform something very similar to the Indian Govinda festival. People from 2 different worlds but sharing the same passion was the outcome of the grand event held at the powai grounds on the 27 of August. Audience included school children, Balwadi children and the local community. The Spanish Govindas performed with such enthusiasm and perfection that the human pyramid did not break even once, it was indeed a visual treat! Read on through the week to know more about what happened at the event.
