 In Mumbai Smiles

26 AUG I

A group of Spaniards, the Castellers de Sants, also known as the Bumblebees will take on the city’s local Govindas on the 27th of this month.

This is an event that showcases the same passion of two different worlds.

They are the biggest human pyramid makers in Barcelona. With over 500 active people in the organization, they not only raise castles but also participate in various important activities and exhibitions around the country.

It’s a group that brings people together of all ages in a family. Their grey uniform has  great importance as it is in memory of the color of the clothes they wore as workers in textile factories in the nineteenth century.

This year, they perform this authentic event in the Powai School Ground, on the 27th of August 2013 at 11a.m in collaboration with Mumbai Smiles, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support each and every underprivileged child and encourage family and community involvement in the educational and developmental process of the children. Along with the support of the B.M.C corporator of the Rashtrawadi Congress Party, the Organization is specially hosting this event, with the view of reaching out to the underpriviledged people of the community to witness this cross-cultural exchange between two countries.

The performance of the Castellers de Sants sheds light on solidarity, trust, culture and integration efforts. For them what matters the most apart from color , age or gender is the teamwork, perseverance and the ability to overcome difficulties.
