Good health and wellbeing are the two main parameters of being physically, mentally and socially productive. To meet the growing demands of the competitive world, most of us tend to ignore our health until we are compelled to confront a medical complication. After all, most health problems can be managed more effectively if detected early, especially among children. The health awareness and screening programs being organized by Mumbai Smiles aim to preserve and promote good health, prevent diseases and disabilities and facilitate early diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. One such camp was organized at Marol Pragtik School, Andheri on 29th November 2013.

Recently, another eye and dental screening camp was organized in association with Aditya Jyot Foundation for primary school children of St. Rocks High School, Marol, Mumbai. In all, 250 children were screened for dental problems and eye ailments. Of these 250, 65 required a follow up check up and further treatment. The common eye complaints were refractive errors, strabismus, stye and conjunctivitis whereas the common dental problems faced by students pertained to caries, bleeding gums, periodontal pockets. All the follow up cases for eye care were referred to Aditya Jyot Foundation for further treatment. Students of Terna Dental College volunteered for this event.
