 In Mumbai Smiles

26 december I

On 23rd December, the Director, teachers and students of Spanish institute, Instituto Hispania made their second round of visit to 3 Balwadis of Mumbai Smiles. The main objective of organizing this visit was to make the visitors more aware about the various projects of Mumbai Smiles and the implementation of these projects in the community. As a small Christmas gesture, they brought toys and special gifts for distribution among Balwadi children

The visit began with a captivating presentation on various projects of Mumbai Smiles. It not only made the visitors understand the work carried out by the organization but also brought to light many eye opening points about social issues and problems faced by one of the fastest growing cities, Mumbai.  Being natives of the city, the visitors themselves shared interesting facts about Mumbai and showed enthusiasm to help all those who were working towards bringing a positive change in the city. They visited 3 Balwadis in all. At one of the Balwadis, they admired the effectiveness with which an Eye Camp was being organized. At the remaining Balwadis, they listened to children reciting numbers, alphabets and poems in English that not only reminded these visitors of their childhood days but also brought smiles to their faces.

It was an unforgettable experience for the visitors. They walked through narrow lanes of the slums, visited various Balwadis, participated in the day to day activities of the Balwadis and were eventually filled with hope of a better future for these little children.

No wonder one of them commented,

“My life has changed a lot after seeing these children……”
