Mumbai smiles helps Shruti pay her school fees for this academic year

‘Education a fundamental right’ says ‘each and every child has right to education and thus makes a better future’. Keeping this goal in mind, this project is envisioned with the objective of mentoring and providing scholarships to needy and ambitious students from underprivileged background. It provides individual mentoring, group learning, exposure to various successful institutions and personalities and mainly financial support through scholarship to the selected students who are most ambitious & have ability to pursue higher career and thereby achieving greater heights to make their dream come true. It ensures bright future, success and thereby holistic development and social empowerment of the student beneficiaries. The Project gives boys and girls an opportunity to continue their education in the nearby high school and college as per their career goal. Future Smiles project has a partnership with 15 colleges and 16 schools in Mumbai smiles strategic areas.

Shruti Ashok Pujari is a Future Smiles Project beneficiary of Mumbai Smiles. Shruti is in Class X and could not afford to pay her school fees. Her total fee was above Rs. 9000/- for the current academic year and she was able to generate just about Rs. 3000/-. With family income less than 10,000/- it was difficult to accumulate the amount required to pay the fees. Shruti’s mother is a house help and works in 3 households but her income is not enough to fund Shruti’s education.

Mr. R. Varadarajan was kind enough to support Shruti with a cheque of Rs. 6300/- The cheque was handed over to Shruti by Mr. Narendra, Executive Director, India of Mumbai Smiles. Shruti is now a happy student and believes that she is closer to her dream of fcousin is a doctor and she knows that it is a noble profession. Mumbai Smiles will continue to handhold her and counsel Shruti during her medical education to enable her to take an informed decision and help her chart the course of her education and career.
