Business leaders from Glaxo Smith Kline(G.S.K.) visit Mumbai Smiles
On 2nd April 2014, Mumbai Smiles organized a meeting with 9 Global Business Leaders from GSK who visited India as part of their leadership development program.
GSK’ s leadership development program brings together a number of high potential managers across various functions from Asia / Europe / America for an intensive, week-long leadership development exercise. As a part of this week long program, one day is spent in the market by the executives to enable participants to directly experience the business realities faced by the leaders in that region. They visit and learn from businesses that have grown as a result of strong focus on innovation and customer-centricity.
One of such organizations they showed active interest in was Mumbai Smiles. They visited us to know more about Mumbai Smiles and exchanged ideas with our team members.
The group consisted of 9 executives. The interaction started with a presentation by Natasha, Awareness Unit Head at Mumbai Smiles. The presentation highlighted the work carried out by Mumbai Smiles .Post this presentation, following discussions were held :
- Motivation behind setting up Mumbai Smiles
- Impact of Mumbai Smiles on lives of people
- Challenges and unmet needs in the communities where Mumbai Smiles operates
- Opportunities and challenges in scaling up
In addition, a visit to the Balwadis No. 1 and 2 was also organized for these executives to enable them to have a better understanding of implementation of projects. A meeting with the Executive Director, Mr. Narendra Kumar Dundu was also held to obtain feedback, exchange ideas and discuss future collaborations.
At Mumbai Smiles, we believe in spreading the word among different stakeholders about how they can help communities come out from clutches of poverty. We also believe in interacting with corporate bodies and other stakeholders to enable cross learning and allow exposure. It was indeed an interesting learning experience that the GSK visit brought about. We look forward to having more organizations come visit our projects and increase awareness about the work done by us.
