Balwadi teachers were tested on knowledge of the IYCN module
Infant Young Child Nutrition training was conducted in the month of August 2013 for all the Balwadi teachers. It is required to test the knowledge of the teachers on the IYCN training module for better services in the community. Hence an exam was conducted for the teachers on 18th of October 2013. All teachers appeared for the exam.
The Infant and Young Child Nutrition (IYCN) model is based on Maternal and Child Health and will help in improving the nutritional status of mothers, infants, and young children. IYCN focuses on proven interventions that are effective from the start of pregnancy through the first two years of life.
Mumbai Smiles in collaboration with Nutrition Mission (State Government Body) & UNICEF had successfully organized an extensive 3 day theoretical as well as practical Nutrition training program for the 23 Balwadi Teachers on 21-23 August 2013. This training is based on, “The Infant and Young Child Nutrition (IYCN)” model.
