A program on Life Skills Education by the name of” Life Skills Education: Clarity of thought and knowledge”  is being organized for school children on January 31, 2014.Through this program, Mumbai Smiles will promote the concept of inclusive Life Skills Education, which will be integrated with formal education system especially for the school going children in our program area. This initiative will encourage larger number of underprivileged children to take up education and thus help in achieving our goal of ‘Millennium Development Goals’ and ‘Right to Education’. As a first step in this area, we will train regular school teachers and students on Life Skills Education. If successful, we will replicate this program further in our other partner schools located in the slums of Mumbai.

Apart from this session, the event will also include scholarship distribution to selected students as part of our Girl Child Education Project.

Kiran Mehra-Kerpelman, Director, UN Information Centre for India and Bhutan will be the chief guest for the event. She feels that the commitment of the UN agencies and partners and the positive work being done in diverse spheres to improve the quality of people’s lives have been absolutely inspiring. Mrs. Mehra-Kerpelman has worked with ILO, as Chief of Web and Managing Editor and Production Manager of the ILO’s flagship magazine ‘World of Work’.
