CHILD EXPLOITATION
Pariwartan Social Center
In the Thamel neighborhood of Kathmandu, Nepal, we run a day center, the Pariwartan Social Center, for women experiencing sexual exploitation. This neighborhood has a high concentration of women who suffer various forms of sexual exploitation in massage parlors, nightclubs, and other establishments, and many of them are also victims of trafficking. At this social center, they are offered counseling, psychotherapy, vocational training, and, in general, a safe space where they can feel protected, cared for, and supported.
Since 2025, we have also been organizing an activity for the children of these women. It’s a session designed to stimulate the children’s early development. This activity provides a space for shared play and recreational activities. In this way, the children learn through play while developing social and emotional skills, which in turn allows the mothers to share special moments with them and strengthen family bonds.
Over the past year, this project has worked in rural villages in Thane district in the state of Maharashtra, raising awareness of the risks posed by trafficking networks in order to prevent, in particular girls and women, from falling prey to them.
