For the past three years, Walkim Foundation, along with Euro Fitness has been organizing a non-competitive Nordic Walking Marathon to integrate sports and health with leisure and solidarity.
Mumbai Smiles Foundation’s sister organization Sonrisas de Bombay (SdB) has been one of the two NGOs that this marathon has been supporting and their latest and 3rd edition took place with hundreds of participants last weekend. With two categories of 8km and 16km walking stretch, the event saw participants form all age groups. At the arena where the walks began, there were also a number of activities being held at various spots (stage, starting line, finish line, ground area etc.) with Club Masala organizing a quick Bollywood dance workshop and presenting some gorgeous numbers as well, Gold Respira organizing breathing and stretching activities for the participants. Other activities included an on the spot massage centre to relieve of cramps or muscle pulls after the walk and many other stage activities to keep the atmosphere lively, energetic and pumped for the solidarity driven healthy marathon!
Being one of the 2 NGOs to be supportedby the funds raised by the participation of people in this initiative of WalkimBCN, SdB had its own stall at the event too for giving our gifts to our supporters and participants and to spread the smiles at the event!
More details of this event is here on the SdB blog: https://www.sonrisasdebombay.org/la-walkimbcn-vuelve-a-inundar-la-ciudad-condal-de-marcha-nordica-salud-y-solidaridad/
Big thank you to all the participants, companies and especially to the volunteers of SdB who made this event successful to raise funds for our projects here at Mumbai Smiles Foundation to fight for the cause of poverty in Mumbai slums!
